MGC’19: Unforgettable Community Event


President’s Note

Maheshwari Global Convention and Expo took place in Jodhpur India from 4th to 7th January 2019.

From MMUK President Mr Ramnaresh Sonee, Secretary Ms Sanjana Karnani, Ex-President Mr Dilip Pungalia, Youth & IT Coordinator Mr Arvind Maheshwari, Mr Abhinav Gattani, Mr Amol Malpani, Mrs Priyanka Mohta and Mr Praveen Maheshwari (Scotland) attended MGC.

It was claimed that MGC was the biggest event organised by a single community in India. The event was attended by 40,000+ Maheshwaris and it was truly Global Convention as Maheshwari’s attended from across the globe such as US, UK, Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, UAE, Kenya, etc. There was 8,00,000 square feet of new carpet laid on the ground, 6 domes for expo (trade fair) accommodating 450+ stands put up by Maheshwari business owners, a seminar hall with seating capacity of 5000 people and main convention hall with seating capacity of 22,000 people at a time and everything was in same ground with elephants, camels, hand made replica of Statue of Liberty and the Lord Shiva’s temple built onsite.

The adjoining food courts where roughly 200k+ hot meals were served on 5th and 6th January with volunteers encouraging no food waste policy.

MMUK representatives interacted with ABMMS Leadership team Mr Shyam Sunder Soni (President), Mr Sandeep Kabra (General Secretary), Mr R L Kabra (Treasurer), Mr Ram Pal Soni (Ex-President), Mr Vikas Bhutada from US (MMNA President), Mr Kamal Bhutada from Australia and NRIs from other countries, Group A Officers and Industrialists during welcome dinner on 4th January.

The distinguished community members with extra ordinary accomplishment shared their experience in the field of industries, business, corporate, politics, social and community services, civil services, armed forces, sports and entertainment industry during 4 days.

Ms Sanjana Karnani, Secretary, MMUK also shared the stage with Mr Manish Maheshwari CEO, Network18 Digital and Mr Mekin Maheshwari to speak on the subject of Online Marketing and she has been given a Token of Appreciation by MGC.

Mr Amol Malpani, MMUK Member, was one of the Exhibitor at MGC Expo, presenting next generation Data, Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Software Cloudaeon.

There was a cultural programme every evening with Ravidrums performing in the opening and closing ceremonies on 4th and 7th January. A “Kavi Sammelan” on 5th January with Actor Kiku Sharda and Actor Shailesh Lodha entertaining the 20,000+ audience and an extra ordinary cultural programme on 6th January put together by Jodhpur Maheshwari Samaj.

There was a Samaj Sandesh Yatra in the morning on 5th January where the representatives from different regional Maheshwari Samaj participated and demonstrated how our community has spread across different states in India and how deeply we have indulged into regional culture whilst maintaining strong bonding with our own community.
Govt. of India Cabinet Ministers Mr Piyush Goyal, Mr Nitin Gadkari, Mr Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Lok Sabha Speaker Mrs Sumitra Mahajan and Maharastra’s CM Mr Devendra Fadnavis also shared their affiliations with Maheshwari community.

This programme would not have been possible without the huge undertaking by Mr Shyam Sunder Soni, Mr Sandeep Kabra and rest of ABMMS leadership team, MGC organising committee, Jodhpur Jila Maheshwari Samaj and Paschimi Rajasthan Pradeshik Maheshwari Samaj. Special thanks to Mr Shiv Soni, Mr Anurag Lohiya, Mr Amit Lohiya, Mr Mayur Maheshwari, Mr Pawan Boob, Mr Ajay Mundra, Mr Saurabh Rathi, Mr Mahesh Rathi and Mr Arpit Dhoot for their help and support during MGC.

Their coordination and organisational skills were experienced by all the attendees who were well assisted by young community members from the arrival in Jodhpur till the departure and felt like Jodhpur belongs to Maheshwaris as MGC banners were visible everywhere in the city.

The true success of MGC exhibited in the way organising team engaged and mobilised young community members who worked tirelessly for months and were in touch with all attendees individually via whats app and phone.

MGC’19 was once in a lifetime experience, every attendee went back home with the community pride and gratitude for the volunteers who made it happen.

MMUK Committee Update

Jai Mahesh!

This is a quick note to provide you an update regarding MMUK Committee.

Recently, Shri Santosh Gandhi proposed Shri Ramnaresh Sonee to take-over from him as MMUK’s President whilst stepping down from the committee due to other commitments.

MMUK Committee met on Friday 23rd November 2018 and agreed with the proposal.

We would like to thank Shri Santosh Gandhi for his incredible contributions to MMUK as a President over last three years and as a MMUK team member in various capacity over last ten years.

With his visionary leadership, MMUK team successfully hosted Maheshwari Global Meet during last Diwali event and started MMUK Charity Patrons initiative to fulfill MMUK’s charity objectives.

We congratulate Shri Ramnaresh Sonee on becoming MMUK’s President. He is looking forward to meet you all at upcoming Diwali Celebrations on Saturday, 1st Dec 2018.

MMUK’s Diwali Bollywood Dhamaka 2018

Diwali is a festival where families of MMUK come together to offer 56 Bhog to Lord Krishana and exchange Diwali Greetings in person.

Preparations for this event begins months before by the organising committee including venue booking in February 2018 Baylis House.

Diwali event theme for this year was “Bollywood Dhamaka”, which received an unprecedented response from the community, more than 300 Maheshwari’s attended the event, so far, the largest Maheshwari gathering since inception of MMUK.For the first time MMUK Midland Chapter members also attended the event in big numbers with full enthusiasm and Bollywood spirit.Bollywood icon life size cut-outs were placed at the grand entrance to welcome all members.

Majority of community member’s right from 3 year old child to senior citizens were dressed up like Bollywood actor/actress in spirit of the theme of the event. To mention few of them – Circuit & Munna (Munna Bhai MMBS), Bajirao Peshwa (Bajirao Mastani), Singham, Sanjay Dutt (Vaastav), Bappi Lahiri, Amitabh Bacchan and much more.

Event began with Annakut  Aarti by elders in community and “Chappan Bhog” were offered, which were brought by the community members themselves.

During the event, the committee appointed the new president Mr Ramnaresh Sonee and bid farewell to Mr Santosh Gandhi  thanking for his contribution to the community.

Fantastic cultural programme full of Bollywood theme performance was presented by MMUK members. The performances included Tribute to Bollywood icon Sridevi, Kids bollywood fashion show and multiple group dances.

Mr Shrin Bajaj of MTC Group, Mrs Nidhi Maheshwari of Linay & Shipp Financial Services, Mr Sumit Agarwal of DNS Associates and Mr Manish Vaid of ICICI Bank were the event supporters.

MMUK Outstanding Achievement Award for this year was presented to Dr Manish Maheshwari for his professional achievements as an Oncologist Consultant as well as his support to the Maheshwari community.

Event was graced by Diwali Greetings via MMS from following personalities, which was played at the event.

Mahesh Navmi 2018

MMUK organised “Mahesh Navmi” event during June 2018. It was another successful event with the sports activities followed by Anand Mela. Members played the indoor and outdoor games such as darts, archery, relay & hurdle race and “kho kho”. They also enjoyed Indian street food and fun games during Anand Mela following sports.

MMUK had organised “Mahesh Navmi” event in June 2017. It was a very successful event where we celebrated the spirit of coming together with friendly games under the umbrella of MMUK. Members came with full enthusiasm and the team hopes that everyone had good fun and left with fond memories to savour

Annakut and Diwali Jubilations – 2015

MMUK celebrated this year’s annual Diwali on a breezy Sunday of 15th November at the City Pavilion venue in East London. The celebrations saw a good attendance of 190 people and fantastic participation throughout.

The event commenced with Deep Prajwalan by Shri Shyamsunder Gandhi, followed by Ganesh Vandana. The event kicked off with an eye catching welcome dance performance by Mrs Suman Gandhi and Mrs Monica Chandak. This year’s function included a talent competition wherein mindblowing acts were presented from all age groups, with exceptional acts like a 7 year old stand- up comedian and 6 year old singer.

The event also featured a spiritually themed fancy dress competition for our junior Maheshwaris in UK, and it is hard to put in words the amount of effort they put in to justify the roles they were in. Later half of the event had an aarti thali decoration competition with enthusiastic participation; this was followed by Annakut Chhappan Bhog and Aarti.

Winners from the competition were awarded prizes through blessing of all elderly community guests present at the event and the committee members. The program was concluded by a ‘thank you note’ by MMUK president Shri. Rajesh Chechani and was followed up by fun filled Ras-Garba where everyone immersed themselves in dancing to the beats of Garba. This event also saw a new website launch for MMUK with easy user interface and had received very good feedbacks from the wider MMUK family.
